Primary School Placements

Finding our candidates the right job is key. We specialise in securing permanent, long-term, and supply opportunities for existing teachers and graduates who want to work in primary education as primary school teachers.

The role of a class teacher within primary education is to develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the national primary curriculum and early years’ framework. You are responsible for developing and fostering the appropriate skills and social abilities, organising the classroom and learning resources, and creating displays to encourage a positive learning environment for pupils aged 3-11 years.

A successful primary teacher will be confident in motivating pupils with enthusiasm and imagination while maintaining discipline and ensuring pupil progress in line with the appropriate framework.

Our team’s industry expertise helps us guide, advise, and most importantly, listen. We’re here to help those wanting to work in this rewarding environment, and we work hard and smart to make a positive difference in their careers within this space.

Management

Senior leadership

A school's leadership team is often referred to as the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) or SMT (Senior Management Team). As the decision-making body, they're integral to a school's success and strategic direction.

At Clarus Education, we spend considerable time getting to know client schools and working in partnership with their leadership teams and school governors. This provides us with a unique insight into the depth of skills and strengths required to be an effective and successful member of the SLT/SMT, with a clear understanding of what's needed to be the ‘right fit’.

We recruit for Senior Leadership/Management Team positions within all school environments across Primary, Secondary and Special Needs. Whether your leadership strength is in teaching and learning, assessment, pastoral or curriculum-based, we'll find you the perfect position to match your expectations and requirements.

For advice on senior roles, get in touch to discuss your options and ambitions.

Management

Middle management

As class teachers progress through their careers, additional responsibilities often become part of the job; whether it be school-wide or departmental. These opportunities facilitate more experience and allow class teachers to climb the ladder of career progression into middle management.

Depending on the size of the school, a position with additional responsibility may come with a TLR payment (Teaching & Learning Responsibility). The weight of a TLR will depend on the scale of responsibility given, which is often determined by the importance placed on the role itself, size of school, department or phase.

If you're seeking a position of additional responsibility such as Head of Department or Phase Leader, you're in the right place.

So, if you want to take the next step in developing your teaching career, or simply want to speak to an advisor regarding your career progression options, get in touch with a member of our team today.

Types of roles we place are:

  • Subject Coordinator / Leader
  • Key Stage Coordinator
  • Phase Leader
  • Head of Department

We place teachers into permanent, fixed, or long-term contract roles across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

To work within one of our client schools, primary teachers will require UK QTS.

Class teachers

Early Career Teacher (ECT)

Whether you have completed your initial teacher training (ITT) through a PGCE, SCITT or Schools Direct, being a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) / Early Career Teacher (ECT) can be daunting. So many schools, so many jobs – where to start?

Once you have completed your ITT, the key is to find the perfect school to support you through your induction and kick off your teaching career.

Due to COVID and the impact on your training and placements, the government have tweaked the induction, coming into effect from the 1st September 2021.

What’s new – the following key changes have been made:

  • The term early career teacher (ECT) replaces newly qualified teacher (NQT).
  • The standard length of induction has been increased from one school year to two school years.
  • In addition to the 10% timetable reduction that ECTs receive in their first year of induction, ECTs will also receive a 5% timetable reduction in the second year of induction.
  • Schools are expected to deliver an induction period that is underpinned by the ECF – Early Career Framework. Appropriate bodies will have a role in checking that an ECF-based induction is in place.
  • The role of the mentor has been introduced. The mentor will have a key role in supporting the ECT during induction and is separate to the role of the induction tutor.
  • There will be two formal assessment points, one midway through induction, and one at the end of the induction period. These will be supported by regular progress reviews to monitor progress, to take place in each term where a formal assessment is not scheduled.

For more information and insight, take a look through the 2021 government guidance.

As an NQT / ECT you will have an idea of which year or key stage you'd like to teach. Your first permanent post as an NQT / ECT should be within your comfort zone, a year group you have experience of and are confident about.

Once you're set on the phase and year group, decide what your type of school you want to work within. With over 2000 state primary schools within Greater London, your choice is wide. Try to be as open-minded as possible, without losing sight of the type of environment that suits your personality and skillset. Faith or state, creative or traditional, 1, 2 or 3 form entry.

With a 2-year induction, please take your time and ensure you choose the right school… You'll know when you've found the right school.

We have vacancies across EYFS, KS1 & KS2.
