SEN Teaching Assistant – Brent

Location: Brent

Pay: £105–£110 per day

About the role

A welcoming school in Brent is seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team on a long-term basis.

The successful candidate will support pupils with additional needs and provide 1:1 assistance where required. You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to help pupils access learning, build confidence and develop independence.

This is an immediate-start opportunity for someone with relevant SEN experience who is patient, proactive and passionate about inclusive education.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Help pupils participate in lessons and classroom activities.
  • Adapt tasks and resources to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils’ communication, social and emotional development.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Use agreed strategies to support engagement and behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff.
  • Share observations about pupil progress and wellbeing with the relevant staff.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school procedures.

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support in a school or educational setting.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to adapt support to pupils’ individual needs.
  • A proactive and reliable attitude.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Availability to start ASAP.

Experience with autism, ADHD, communication needs or other additional needs would be advantageous.
