We are seeking to appoint Lecturers, either part time or full time, to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English within our cross-College provision, primarily to vocational learners aged 16-18, with a growing provision of part-time adult learners.
You would play a key role in supporting our vocational learners with their development and to help them progress onto higher courses or the workplace. You would join a team of skilled teachers with a wealth of experience and knowledge, who are pro-active in sharing best practice with the team in order to engage and enthuse resit learners.
You will preferably possess a degree in English or a related subject, with experience of teaching or tutoring English GCSE and/or Functional Skills, and have the ability to engage and enthuse 16 to 18 year olds from a variety of vocational disciplines.
GCSE and Functional Skills English are delivered across the college by a central team. The College has made English central to students’ Study Programmes. The lecturer will teach students from a range of curriculum areas.

The main purpose of the job is to teach English, GCSE and /or Functional Skills, to students from a range of curriculum areas and to maximise their success.
Qualifications:
· Degree or equivalent in English or related subject (or minimum of Level 3 qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching GCSE English for at least 2 years)
· English and Maths at GCSE Grade C/4 or willing to achieve
· Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE)**, or willing to obtain a teaching qualification, supported by the College
Knowledge and Experience:
· Experience of teaching or tutoring GCSE and/or Functional Skills English
· Experience of working in Further Education
· An understanding of the exam requirements for GCSE/Functional skills
Other Skills:
· The ability to engage and enthuse vocational learners aged 16-18
· Ability to manage challenging behaviour of students effectively and engage reluctant learners
· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
· High standard of literacy
· Good interpersonal skills
· Good teaching practice
· Ability to use IT within the curriculum and deliver effective online teaching and assessment
· Good administrative/organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload effectively
