ASAP Start

We are looking for a short term (3 month) cover for our Science Technician. The ideal person would be able to prepare materials for typical A level type practicals in Biology and Chemistry classes for BTEC Level 3, Access to HE and International Science groups.

You would be responsible for the preparation and clear away of materials for all science laboratories to meet the needs of both teaching staff and students in both practical and theory teaching sessions. You will monitor consumable stocks and the purchase of new stock/equipment and make purchases for staff from the Science (within Engineering, Computing and Science department) and Access & HE department. You would ensure good housekeeping rules are adhered to by students and staff and a safe working environment is maintained in all laboratories and the associated prep rooms

We need someone with suitable laboratory experience within secondary / further education.

What we are looking for in our role:

Experience?

Relevant technical biology / chemistry experience of laboratory skills. (E.g. making solutions, waste disposal etc.)

Skills and abilities?

  • Excellent knowledge of how a laboratory functions within an educational setting.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office for email, internet searches and record keeping

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree and / or A levels (or equivalent L3 qualification) in science-based subjects.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above OR equivalents
