About the role

We are seeking a motivated and personable Lecturer in Carpentry to join the Construction and Building Services team.

The successful candidate will design and deliver high-quality Carpentry courses to a diverse range of learners, combining practical training with underpinning theoretical knowledge. You will also contribute to curriculum development, provide tutorial and pastoral support, and complete the administrative duties associated with the role.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Carpentry lessons in practical and classroom-based settings.
  • Support learners to develop the technical knowledge and practical skills required for the construction industry.
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Provide tutorial, pastoral and academic support to students.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, development and quality improvement.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and complete relevant administrative tasks.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, health and safety, attendance and achievement.
  • Keep subject knowledge and industry practice up to date.

About you

You will have:

  • Relevant industry experience within the Construction sector.
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of Carpentry.
  • At least a Level 2 vocational qualification in Carpentry or a related discipline.
  • The ability to deliver practical and theoretical teaching to learners with varied abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A self-motivated, organised and collaborative approach.
  • A commitment to supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

A teaching qualification or previous experience in further education would be advantageous. However, applications from experienced industry professionals with a passion for teaching and training are encouraged.
