Main Purpose of the role

The main purpose of the job is to teach English and Maths Functional Skills up to level 2, to apprentices on a range of frameworks to maximise their timely success. Also standalone Functional Skills delivery.

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer to deliver Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT up to Level 2 to Apprentices across a range of frameworks.  The role will include ensuring learners are supported effectively throughout the programme with their Functional Skills, contributing to progress reviews and setting learners’ targets.  The role will be based at Hayes with the requirement to travel to other campuses as required.

You should be qualified to a minimum of Level 3, preferably degree level, and should have experience of delivering Maths, English and ICT Functional Skills successfully.   You should have the ability to motivate and engage groups of Apprentices aged 16 +.  A teaching qualification recognised by the Further Education sector will be an advantage.   This post will be based at Hayes Campus, with the requirement to travel to other College sites when required.

Qualifications:

·       A relevant degree (English, Maths, ICT, or   related area), or minimum of Level 3 vocational qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching Functional Skills successfully for a minimum of 2 years

·       Minimum of Grade B/6 or above in GCSE English Language and Maths, or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience:

·       Experience of delivering Functional Skills to Apprentices and proven track record of success

·       Up to date knowledge of exam requirements for Functional Skills

Other skills:

·       The ability to engage and motivate groups of Apprentices aged 16+

·       Good written and verbal communication skills

·       Good literacy and numeracy skills

·       Good interpersonal skills

·       Good classroom practice

·       Good IT skills

·       Ability to use IT within the curriculum

·       Good administration/organisational skills
