Pastoral Support Manager – Hertfordshire – September Start (Permanent)

A forward-thinking and inclusive academy in Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from September. This is a term-time only position, ideal for an experienced pastoral professional committed to supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement.

This role is pivotal in ensuring students receive the guidance and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Role Details

  • Position: Pastoral Support Manager
  • Location: Hertfordshire
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent, Term Time Only
  • Salary: £27,000 – £29,000 (pro rata, dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading on pastoral care and wellbeing support for a designated year group or cohort
  • Supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SLT, and external agencies to implement support strategies
  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, and taking appropriate action where needed
  • Building strong relationships with students, parents, and carers
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive school culture

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour, or safeguarding role within an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and student welfare
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy
  • A proactive and resilient approach
