Secondary English Teacher – Southwark (Inner London)
Full-Time | Permanent | ECT – MPS3

A high-performing and forward-thinking secondary school in Southwark is seeking a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher to join its successful English department on a full-time, permanent basis from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners up to MPS3 to join a supportive and ambitious school community. The school is well-regarded for its strong leadership, inclusive ethos, and commitment to academic excellence and student development.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will be passionate about literature and language, committed to raising attainment, and capable of creating a stimulating learning environment that supports all learners.

The Role

  • Teach English across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons
  • Monitor and assess student progress effectively
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extracurricular activities
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive and well-established department

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it (ECTs welcome)
  • A degree in English or a closely related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
