A highly respected and inclusive primary school in Barnet is seeking an experienced and compassionate teacher to join its specialist Autism Provision from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to creating meaningful, lasting outcomes for pupils with Autism.

The role is based within the school’s dedicated specialist provision, supporting a small Key Stage 2 class of eight pupils aged between Years 3 and 6. All pupils have EHCPs relating primarily to Autism, with some children also presenting additional needs including ADHD. The provision offers a carefully adapted curriculum focused on academic development, communication, emotional wellbeing, independence, and successful integration into mainstream learning where appropriate.

The school has built an excellent reputation for its nurturing ethos and exceptional SEND support. Primary Autism Provision Teacher (KS2) - About the role:

The successful teacher will take the lead in planning and delivering personalised learning experiences tailored to individual EHCP outcomes and developmental needs. Working alongside skilled support staff and external specialists, you will play a central role in helping pupils develop confidence, communication skills, emotional regulation, and independence.

Primary Autism Provision Teacher (KS2) - Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering creative and highly differentiated lessons suited to pupils with Autism and associated needs.
• Creating a predictable, nurturing, and sensory-aware classroom environment.
• Supporting pupils’ social communication and emotional development.
• Collaborating closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and outside agencies.
• Building strong relationships with parents and carers to ensure consistent support for pupils.
• Encouraging independence and preparing pupils for successful participation within the wider school community.
• Supporting inclusion opportunities within mainstream classrooms where appropriate.

Primary Autism Provision Teacher (KS2) - The ideal candidate will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Have experience working with children with Autism and additional SEND needs.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive practice.
• Be calm, patient, and relationship-focused in their approach.
• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Be passionate about helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
• Additional SEN qualifications or specialist training would be beneficial but are not essential.
