The role - KS2 Class Teacher – Science TLR

You will take responsibility for a KS2 class, delivering engaging and well-sequenced lessons that support pupils to make strong academic progress and develop independence as learners. There is a clear focus on high expectations, consistent routines, and adaptive teaching to meet a wide range of needs.

This role also offers the opportunity to lead Science across the school (TLR available). This is a genuine leadership pathway, where you would help shape curriculum intent, support colleagues with planning and delivery, and drive improvements in pupil outcomes in Science.

What you will be doing

  • Leading a KS2 class with strong curriculum coverage and clear progression
  • Planning learning that is engaging, purposeful, and appropriately challenging
  • Using assessment effectively to inform teaching and identify next steps
  • Supporting all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils, to achieve their potential
  • Contributing to a positive, calm, and purposeful learning environment
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure consistency across the phase
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff

Science TLR responsibilities (if appointed)

  • Leading and developing Science across the primary curriculum
  • Ensuring progression, consistency, and high standards in Science teaching
  • Supporting and coaching colleagues to improve practice
  • Monitoring outcomes and identifying areas for improvement
  • Contributing to curriculum development and whole-school improvement priorities

The ideal candidate - KS2 Class Teacher – Science TLR

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has strong experience teaching in KS2, ideally upper KS2
  • Demonstrates secure subject knowledge and confident classroom practice
  • Has a genuine interest in curriculum development, particularly Science
  • Shows leadership potential or experience of leading a subject area
  • Is reflective, motivated, and committed to improving outcomes for all pupils
  • Works well as part of a collaborative and supportive team
