Head of Mathematics
Location: Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

We are working in partnership with a leading Academy in Hertfordshire to appoint an exceptional Head of Mathematics to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Maths practitioner to lead a high-performing department within a forward-thinking and academically driven school. The Academy has a strong reputation for excellence, with a clear focus on raising attainment and delivering outstanding outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, driving high standards of teaching and learning
  • Develop and implement a challenging and engaging Maths curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Monitor student progress and use data effectively to raise attainment
  • Support, coach, and develop members of the department
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and improvement strategies
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and academic excellence

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject
  • Proven experience of delivering strong outcomes at secondary level
  • Previous leadership experience or the ambition to step into a Head of Department role
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
  • A passion for Maths education and student success
