Lead Practitioner of Science
Location: Hertfordshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

We are working in partnership with a leading Academy in Hertfordshire to appoint an exceptional Lead Practitioner of Science to join their team from September 2026 on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner to take on a key role in driving teaching and learning across the Science department and the wider school. The Academy is recognised for its high standards, innovative approach, and commitment to staff development, making it an ideal environment for ambitious educators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on improving the quality of teaching and learning within Science
  • Deliver outstanding lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Model exemplary classroom practice and support colleagues through coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the implementation of effective teaching strategies
  • Support whole-school teaching and learning priorities
  • Use data effectively to drive student progress and attainment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • A degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching and strong student outcomes
  • Experience supporting or leading teaching and learning initiatives
  • The ability to inspire, challenge, and develop colleagues
  • A passion for raising standards and achieving excellence
