Days & Core hours: Monday to Friday 08.00am to 4.00pm
Up to 4 days teaching, 1 day prep.
We are an award-winning training provider specialising in delivering high-quality training to apprentices employed in plumbing, gas, low carbon and electrical disciplines. SWCA is committed to equipping learners with the practical skills and knowledge required for successful careers. With an emphasis on professional growth. Quality of teaching is maintained with small class sizes of up to 12 learners. We are the only provider in the area delivering low carbon provision.
This is a full-time on-site role located in the City of Bristol (BS4 3QF) for a Plumbing, Gas, and Renewables Tutor & Assessor. An excellent opportunity to be part of the SWCA apprenticeships team and continue to develop and build our low carbon provision. The role involves:
· Providing training and assessment to apprentices
· Site assessments; assessing apprentices in their workplace
· Deliver Apprentice Assessment (previously EPA) training to apprentices
· Be fully engaged with the Centre Mission and Values, ensuring that these are at the heart your working practice.
· Be a role model to others, this requires a commitment to and demonstration of the positive behaviours seen by the Centre as being essential in supporting our Mission and Values.
· IT & Admin: monitor student progress; update central tracking and carry out reviews with student & employer every 10 to 12 weeks.
· IT & Admin: monitor students’ Off the Job journals on Moodles
· IT & Admin: Set targets and monitor students’ progress on their Personal Development courses.
Training and Assessing:
· Deliver a high-quality level of teaching to apprentices.
· Liaising with the other members of the department to facilitate efficient assessment processes for learners
· To plan, design and deliver assessment programmes/sessions and facilitate learning in line with course aims, objectives, mode of assessment and accreditation.
· To monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and effectiveness of assessment processes, sessions, and own practice.
· Be willing to occasionally travel the Bristol and surrounding area to cover site assessments if required.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
• Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plumbing & Heating (i.e. equivalent could be Advanced Craft)
• Be Flexible and responsive to working arrangements
• Participate in mandatory training (safeguarding, inclusion, prevent duty etc)
Personality and Attributes:
Professional, conscientious, committed, flexible, caring (we work with a range of apprentices, including young people under 19), co-operative and able to work with others.
The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.
