SEMH Teaching Assistant – Primary SEMH Unit – Camden

A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Camden is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEMH unit on a long-term basis. This is a full-time role, ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The school has a strong reputation for providing nurturing, structured support for children who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will play a key role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage with learning, and build positive relationships.

Role Details:

  • Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

  • Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
  • Help deliver tailored interventions and structured routines
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEN

  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
