Clarus Education is proud to be working with a highly respected Further Education provider in West London to recruit two outstanding part-time Lecturers in Foundation Learning specialising in PMLD, SLD, and Autism.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Foundation Studies department, with positions based either at a newly opening specialist SEND centre or an established campus setting.

The Role

As a Foundation Learning Lecturer, you will:

  • Teach a range of learners across ELD, LLD, PMLD, ASD, and complex needs programmes
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to mixed-ability and mixed-age groups
  • Lead and manage students with PMLD, SLD, and Autism within specialist educational settings
  • Plan, develop, and implement personalised curriculum programmes tailored to EHCP outcomes
  • Coordinate Learning Support Assistants effectively across all teaching environments
  • Deliver a holistic education programme focused on academic, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Carry out formative and summative assessments, target setting, and learner progress reviews
  • Develop curriculum pathways for students with complex SEND and communication needs
  • Support Total Communication approaches and wider community-based curriculum opportunities
  • Participate in enrichment activities, residential trips, and Foundation Learning events

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area OR Level 3 qualification with substantial Foundation Learning teaching experience
  • Experience teaching learners with ASD, SLD, and PMLD
  • Previous teaching experience within a Further Education setting
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience planning, delivering, and assessing differentiated lessons
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
  • Excellent classroom management and inclusive behaviour strategies
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills and willingness to integrate ICT into teaching
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Desirable:

  • Level 5 FE teaching qualification (DET/DIT or equivalent)
  • Specialist SEND qualifications
  • Experience with Total Communication, PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, or similar specialist approaches
