A well-regarded academy in Hertfordshire is seeking a talented and ambitious Second in Charge of English (2i/c) to join their successful department from September. This is a permanent position offering London Fringe salary and an excellent opportunity for an experienced English teacher ready to take the next step into leadership.

The Role

  • Support the Head of English in leading and developing the department
  • Drive high-quality teaching and learning across KS3–KS5
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and raising attainment
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and development
  • Lead on specific areas of responsibility within the department
  • Mentor and support colleagues, including ECTs

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong classroom practitioner with a proven track record of results
  • Experience supporting departmental initiatives or leadership responsibilities
  • Passion for English and a commitment to student achievement
  • Ambitious and keen to progress into senior leadership in the future
