We are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our team, to teach Hairdressing and Barbering.  

Courses offered include:

• Level 1 Hair and Beauty
• VRQ L2 Women's Hair and Men's Barbering
• VRQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Hairdressing
• Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing
• Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Hairdressing
• Cutting and Styling (short course)
• Barbering (short course) 

You will need to possess a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing with an assessor qualification, and have at least 3 years’ experience of working in Hairdressing industry together with successful teaching experience in Hairdressing.  The College will support you to achieve the Level 5 teacher training qualification if you do not already possess this.  An additional qualification in Expert colourist/colour correction or Creative hair up is desirable.

Curriculum Duties

·       Attend team meetings, staff meetings and College events as directed by managers.

·       Keep records up to date, including the completion of registers, online Portfolios and tracking documentation, updating Markbook and student online and paper portfolios.

·       Liaise with colleagues to ensure that new members of staff are fully appraised of requirements.

·       Participate in the College’s staff appraisal and mentoring systems.

·       Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.

·       Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.

·       Deliver and assess Functional Skills in maths and English.

·       Integrate Functional Skills into the curriculum.

·       Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.

·       Record and update formative and summative assessment tracking.

·       Implement the School’s policies on assessment and homework.

·       Participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the programme.

Quality

·       Carry out student questionnaires and elicit student feedback on the quality of teaching and learning.

·       Contribute to the course reviews including reviews of your subject area and the setting, implementation and monitoring of action plans.

·       Set targets for achievement, retention and attendance and participate in the College’s performance management programme.

·       Participate in additional activities, such as projects on the improvement of teaching and learning, as required.
