Section Manager - Foundation Learning (SEND)

This welcoming new campus will provide a high-quality inclusive learning environment for SEND students, and improve outcomes for students with special educational needs, including those with severe learning needs (SLD).
Reporting to the Head of School for Foundation Learning, you would lead the development and management of provision in this section, including the full range of PMLD milestones 1-4 up to LLDD and Entry/Level 1 provision. You will line manage academic and support staff within the Section and will also teach on a range of courses within Foundation Studies.
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional who can demonstrate the following:
The purpose of the post is to teach on and manage the curriculum and staffing arrangements for courses within the Foundation Learning Section and to ensure the recruitment, retention and achievement of students with a variety of Learning Difficulties and Disabilities. The postholder will also liaise with external bodies to ensure the Foundation curriculum for our SLD and SEND employability provision, including Supported Internships, develops in line with key national and local initiatives.
Qualifications:
· Qualified to degree level
· Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the Further Education sector (e.g. PGCE for FE or Secondary /DET)**
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
· Minimum of three years’ successful recent teaching experience in SEND
· Good knowledge of current provision for learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities including the SEND Code of Practice
· Experience of delivering Functional Skills and RARPA
· Understanding of quality assurance, curriculum and SEND funding issues
· Curriculum management/co-ordination experience
· Good understanding of Supported Internships
· Team leadership/management experience
