An ambitious and highly successful secondary school in Southwark is seeking an exceptional Chemistry specialist to lead and develop its Science faculty from September 2026.

The Role - Head of Chemistry

As Head of Chemistry, you will:

  • Lead the strategic direction of Science across the school
  • Champion Chemistry while supporting the development of Biology and Physics
  • Teach across KS3, KS4 and KS5, including A Level Chemistry
  • Monitor progress and implement strategies to secure strong student achievement
  • Coach and develop colleagues through collaborative planning and instructional leadership
  • Oversee curriculum design to ensure it is engaging, ambitious and inclusive
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and play an active role within the wider leadership team

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds UK QTS and has a strong academic background in Science or Chemistry
  • Has a proven record of delivering excellent outcomes in the classroom
  • Can demonstrate successful leadership experience, either within a department or through additional responsibility
  • Is passionate about raising attainment and supporting every student to succeed
  • Brings energy, creativity and a forward-thinking approach to teaching and learning
  • Has an excellent understanding of the Science curriculum across secondary phases
  • Builds positive relationships with staff, students and families
