Lead Practitioner of Science – Bushey, Hertfordshire

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Lead Practitioner of Science to join a thriving school in Bushey, Hertfordshire. This is a permanent position starting in September 2026.

About the role

  • Lead and develop the science department, driving high standards across all key stages
  • Support and mentor teaching staff within the department to improve teaching and learning
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor a broad and engaging science curriculum

Who we are looking for

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Proven experience in teaching science at secondary level
  • Previous experience in a leadership or departmental lead role within science
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for inspiring young scientists
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and team-working skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting student achievement
