Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR £8,000

Are you an ambitious Chemistry teacher ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking an inspirational Head of Chemistry to lead a successful and forward-thinking department at a well-regarded secondary school in Southwark.

About the Role

As Head of Chemistry, you will oversee the strategic direction, teaching, and outcomes across Key Stages 3–5. You’ll work closely with the Head of Science and senior leadership to build on the department’s strong foundations and ensure students achieve at the highest levels.

You will:

  • Lead a dedicated team of science colleagues, inspiring excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Develop a stimulating and challenging curriculum that engages all learners.
  • Use data effectively to drive progress and raise attainment.
  • Support, mentor, and develop teaching staff across the department.

About You

We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Chemistry specialist who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with QTS and strong subject expertise.
  • Has a proven record of outstanding classroom practice and student progress.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Is committed to inclusive education and a culture of high expectations for all students.
