Are you an experienced plumber ready to take your career in a new direction? This is your chance to join a leading college in Cambridge and inspire the next generation of plumbers. We’re seeking a passionate and committed trades professional to step into teaching — no previous lecturing experience required, as full training and support will be provided.

The Role

As a Plumbing Lecturer, you’ll deliver high-quality teaching and practical training to learners across our full-time and apprenticeship plumbing programmes. You’ll use your hands-on knowledge from industry to bring lessons to life, helping students develop the skills and confidence to start successful careers in plumbing and building services.

You’ll be fully supported as you transition into education, with the opportunity to achieve a Level 5 teaching qualification while working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging theory and practical sessions in plumbing across a range of qualifications and levels.
  • Plan and prepare lessons, learning materials, and assessments to meet curriculum requirements.
  • Support learners in developing the technical and problem-solving skills valued by industry.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to aid development and achievement.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshops and classrooms.
  • Contribute to course development and the continuous improvement of teaching materials.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Extensive, up-to-date plumbing experience within domestic and/or commercial settings.
  • Industry qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent trade certifications.
  • A genuine interest in passing on your skills and supporting young people in their training.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • (Desirable) Any assessor or teaching-related qualifications — though these are not essential.

In return, you’ll receive:

  • A structured training programme leading to a Level 5 teaching qualification.
  • Ongoing professional development and mentoring from experienced tutors.
  • A friendly, supportive environment focused on quality teaching and learner success.
