The Role

As a Lecturer in Sociology, you’ll deliver engaging lessons across our Sociology programmes up to A Level. You’ll play an active role in supporting students to achieve excellent academic results and develop the skills and confidence needed for higher education and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in Sociology up to A Level standard.
  • Design and implement assessment strategies that promote learner progress and attainment.
  • Provide constructive feedback, monitor student performance, and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to course planning, curriculum development, and internal moderation processes.
  • Support and guide students in developing independent learning and critical thinking skills.
  • Engage actively in departmental meetings, standardisation activities, and staff development.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and motivating learning environment for all students.

About You

You will:

  • Hold a degree in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
  • Have proven teaching experience up to Level 3, including A Level.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and engage 16–19-year-old learners.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • (If not yet qualified) be willing to work towards the Level 5 teaching qualification, which the College will fully support you with.
