A high-performing and supportive Secondary Academy in Bushey is seeking an outstanding Lead Practitioner of Science to join the school from September. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Science teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning and ready to have a wider impact across the department and school.
As Lead Practitioner of Science, you will play a key role in raising standards of teaching and learning across the Science department. Working within a successful and collaborative Trust, you will support colleagues, drive innovation in the classroom, and help ensure students achieve excellent outcomes at KS3 and KS4, with KS5 opportunities available.
This position would suit an exceptional practitioner looking to step into a leadership-focused role while continuing to teach and inspire students.
Lead the development of high-quality teaching and learning in Science, ensuring consistently high standards across the department
Monitor student progress and work with the Quality of Education Team to raise attainment and close achievement gaps
Provide coaching, mentorship and instructional support to colleagues to improve classroom practice
Contribute to the design and implementation of engaging and effective Schemes of Learning
Promote excellent behaviour for learning and high expectations within Science lessons
Work closely with the Head of Science and United Learning Subject Advisors to support curriculum development and whole-school improvement
Model outstanding classroom practice and support staff through lesson observations, feedback and professional development
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a relevant Science degree
Proven track record of outstanding teaching in Science at KS3 and KS4
Ability to support colleagues through coaching, modelling lessons and constructive feedback
Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills
Evidence of improving student progress and raising attainment
KS5 teaching experience desirable but not essential
