Working Pattern: 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday)

Are you an experienced Construction Technician looking for a rewarding role in education? A leading college in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and skilled technician to join their Construction department on a long-term, part-time basis.

About the Role

As a Construction Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of practical sessions within the college’s workshop facilities. You’ll help maintain a safe, efficient, and well-equipped working environment, assisting both staff and students in a range of construction-based activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons and demonstrations
  • Maintain and organise the workshop space, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Operate and maintain machinery, including forklifts and other construction-related equipment
  • Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance of tools and equipment

Requirements

  • A background in a construction-related field (e.g., carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, or general construction)
  • Demonstrable experience in a practical workshop or technical environment
  • Valid forklift licence (essential)
  • Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills
