SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 1 & Year 2 – SEND Provision)

£115–£120 per day (via GTP)
Clarus Education is working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary setting in Barnet to recruit a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Year 1 and Year 2 within a dedicated SEND provision.
This specialist provision supports children who are currently not ready to access learning within the mainstream classroom. The class size is small, with no more than 8 pupils, ensuring focused, tailored support for each child.
We are seeking a resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and can demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support a small class of up to 8 pupils within a specialist SEND provision
• Work with children in Year 1 and Year 2 who require structured, personalised learning
• Implement effective de-escalation strategies to support emotional regulation
• Provide tailored academic and social support to meet individual EHCP targets
• Foster a calm, nurturing and structured learning environment
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
Candidate Requirements
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:
• Hold a Level 3 qualification (essential) or be a graduate (desirable)
• Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting
• Demonstrate strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills
• Be patient, adaptable and committed to inclusive education
• Have a genuine passion for ensuring all pupils can achieve and thrive
• Be able to commit to full-time hours (8:15am–4:15pm)
