Specialist Primary SEMH Support Assistant
Location: Camden, London
Start Date: After the Easter Holidays
Contract: Full time, Term time only
Salary: £100 – £115 per day (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A welcoming Primary School in Camden is seeking a patient, nurturing, and dedicated Specialist SEMH Support Assistant to join their team after the Easter holidays.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience or strong interest in supporting children with additional behavioural and emotional needs. You will work 1:1 alongside the class teacher within the school’s specialist SEMH provision, helping pupils to re-engage in learning and develop positive relationships in a supportive, structured environment.

The Role

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs within a primary classroom.
  • Support the class teacher with behaviour management, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Help maintain a calm, positive learning environment where all children can thrive.
  • Encourage and model positive behaviour and communication strategies.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with SEMH, behavioural, or SEND pupils, ideally in a primary setting.
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children’s needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping all pupils succeed both academically and emotionally.
  • Team-player attitude, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
