Salary: £69,332 – £76,481 (Leadership Scale)

About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Assistant Head Teacher to join our thriving secondary school community in Watford, Hertfordshire. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced school leader ready to take the next step as an Assistant Head Teacher, playing a key role in driving whole-school improvement.
The successful Assistant Head Teacher will work closely with the Head Teacher and senior leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making, strengthening teaching and learning, and promoting high standards across the school.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Head Teacher, you will:
· Contribute to the strategic leadership and long-term development of the school
· Lead on whole-school priorities, as agreed with the Head Teacher, in your role as Assistant Head Teacher
· Support, monitor, and quality assure teaching and learning across departments
· Line manage key middle leaders and support ongoing professional development
· Foster an inclusive and aspirational school culture that supports student progress and wellbeing
· Represent the school externally, building strong relationships with parents, governors, and external stakeholders as part of the Assistant Head Teacher leadership remit
Person Specification
The successful Assistant Head Teacher will:
· Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) awarded in the UK
· Have proven leadership experience within a secondary school setting
· Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
· Show a strong commitment to raising outcomes and maintaining exceptional standards
· Inspire and motivate staff and students through clear, visible, and effective leadership as an Assistant Head Teacher
