SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant – Wandsworth
Part-Time (2 Hours per Day, 5 Days per Week) | ASAP Start – July 2026

Are you a compassionate and experienced SEN/SEMH practitioner looking for a rewarding short-hours role supporting a young learner one-to-one? A welcoming SEN Academy in Wandsworth is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide focused support for a Year 6 pupil working outside of the classroom.

The Role

You’ll work one-to-one with a Year 6 student with Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored guidance and encouragement to help them thrive in a calm, structured environment.
This will include:

  • Supporting with core subjects such as PSHE, life skills, and social skills.
  • Helping to build confidence, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Working closely with teaching staff and therapists to support learning goals and wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience supporting children with SEN and/or SEMH needs, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
  • Understands the importance of consistency, empathy, and emotional awareness in a support role.
  • Can engage learners through creative, practical approaches to learning and development.
  • Is reliable, flexible, and ready to start as soon as possible.

Key Details

  • Location: Wandsworth, South West London
  • Schedule: 5 days per week, mornings or afternoons (2 hours per day)
  • Contract: Temporary, from ASAP until the end of the academic year
  • Pay: Competitive and dependent on experience
