Lead Practitioner of Mathematics
Permanent | Required for September 2026 | Salary: Leadership Scale L6–L10 (Fringe)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an outstanding teacher of Mathematics to join a highly successful Academy in Watford as Lead Practitioner of Mathematics from September 2026.

We are seeking an ambitious and innovative practitioner with the drive and expertise to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the Mathematics department and the wider school community. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing pedagogy, curriculum design, and the professional growth of colleagues, thereby contributing to the sustained academic excellence of the Academy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the continuous development and improvement of teaching and learning in Mathematics.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues to secure consistently high-quality provision.
  • Contributing to whole-school curriculum planning, assessment strategy, and intervention programmes.
  • Modelling outstanding classroom practice that reflects high expectations and scholarly ambition.
  • Playing an active role in whole-school improvement as part of the extended leadership team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have extensive experience teaching Mathematics across Key Stages 3–5.
  • Demonstrate a proven record of securing excellent outcomes for pupils.
  • Have experience in leading professional development or supporting colleagues in improving practice.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Be committed to fostering a culture of high aspirations, academic rigour, and continuous improvement.
