Science Teacher - Newham

Overview

An ambitious Newham secondary school is seeking to appoint a high-calibre Science Teacher to join its thriving science faculty on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is available for an ASAP or April start and would suit a practitioner ready to make a strong and sustained impact within a dynamic department.

The position

The appointed Science Teacher will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to contribute at KS5 for suitably experienced candidates. You will be expected to demonstrate confident classroom practice, strong behaviour management, and a clear understanding of how to secure progress for all learners.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the role offers scope to support curriculum refinement, mentor less experienced colleagues, and contribute to departmental initiatives. For the right candidate, there is a clear pathway towards additional responsibility and future TLR opportunities as the department continues to grow.

What we are looking for

The successful Science Teacher will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have completed ECT/NQT induction, or be completing initial teacher training this year and seeking an ECT post from September 2026
  • Demonstrate consistently strong teaching and learning
  • Show the capacity to take on wider departmental responsibilities over time
  • Be committed to inclusive practice, high expectations, and professional reflection

This post is particularly well suited to experienced teachers seeking progression, though exceptional ECTs with strong training and clear leadership potential are encouraged to apply.

Why join us

The school serves a diverse and vibrant community and places professional development at the heart of its improvement strategy. The science department is well-resourced, stable, and forward-thinking, with opportunities for staff to develop leadership skills through coaching, curriculum leadership, and whole-school initiatives.

This Science Teacher role provides a supportive environment alongside realistic opportunities for career development within an Inner London setting.
