HR / Recruitment Officer – Primary School
Location: Harrow
Salary: £27,500 pro rata
Contract: Full-time, 1-year Maternity Cover
Start Date: ASAP

A welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Harrow is seeking an organised and proactive HR / Recruitment Officer to join their friendly administrative team on a full-time, 1-year maternity cover contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong administrative or HR experience who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting the school’s day-to-day HR functions, ensuring smooth processes around recruitment, compliance, and staff support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including advertising roles, shortlisting, arranging interviews, and onboarding new staff.
  • Ensure all safer recruitment checks are completed, including DBS, references, and eligibility to work documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel records in line with data protection and safeguarding regulations.
  • Assist with staff absence tracking, contracts, payroll information, and HR reporting.
  • Provide professional and friendly support to staff across the school.
  • Work with the senior leadership team to ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date and consistently applied.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a school office, HR, or recruitment environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Confident communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Familiarity with school HR systems or MIS software (SIMS, Arbor, etc.) an advantage.
  • Understanding of safer recruitment and confidentiality in an educational setting.
