Our College is seeking an inspiring and dedicated English Lecturer to join our team on a full-time, long-term basis, with a clear view to a permanent role being offered. This is an exciting opportunity for an English Lecturer who is passionate about creative, inclusive teaching and making English engaging and relevant for all learners.

Salary: £26,904 – £43,110 per year (depending on experience)

Contract: Full-time, long term, with potential for permanency

The Role

As an English Lecturer, you will teach Entry Level 3 to Level 2 courses, including GCSE and Functional Skills English. You will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills, while fostering confidence and motivation.

You will plan creative learning activities, assess and monitor student progress, and provide tailored support to help learners achieve their academic goals. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to the development of high-quality resources and continually improve teaching and learning experiences across the department.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

·         Prior experience teaching English or related subjects in a further education, secondary, or similar educational setting

·         Experience delivering Entry Level, Level 1, or Level 2 courses, including GCSE and/or Functional Skills

·         Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt content for learners with varying abilities and needs

·         Excellent communication and classroom management skills

·         Ability to plan engaging, inclusive lessons and assess learner progress effectively

·         Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable Criteria:

·         A degree in English or a related creative subject such as drama, performing arts, or creative writing

·         Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)

·         Experience working with learners from diverse backgrounds

·         Creative approach to teaching that inspires confidence and enjoyment in English
