A leading, high‑achieving primary school is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Year 2 Teacher to join their team as soon as possible on a maternity cover contract, with the strong possibility of a longer‑term or permanent role for the right candidate.

- Position: Year 2 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

- Contract: Full‑time, fixed term with potential extension/permanent appointment
- Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience, in line with School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions)

Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging Year 2 lessons across the full National Curriculum, ensuring progress for pupils of all abilities.
- Create a positive, stimulating classroom environment that promotes independence, good behaviour and a love of learning.
- Use a range of assessment strategies to track pupil progress, inform planning and prepare children effectively for end‑of‑KS1 expectations.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, colleagues and parents to support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
- Contribute to wider school life through staff meetings, events, trips and extracurricular or enrichment activities where appropriate.
Person specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and proven experience teaching in KS1, ideally Year 2.
- Strong understanding of the Year 2 curriculum, assessment frameworks and age‑appropriate pedagogy.
- High expectations of pupil attainment, progress and behaviour, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.
- A reflective, flexible practitioner who is willing to contribute ideas and work as part of a supportive team.
