SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant - Greenwich

We are a caring and inclusive primary school with a strong Early Years ethos, currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our EYFS team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP.

This role is ideal for a skilled SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting children of Nursery and EYFS age with behavioural challenges and SEMH needs, and who understands the importance of early intervention, consistency, and emotional support in the early years.

About the Role

As a SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children to access learning and thrive emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting children with behaviour regulation, routines, and transitions
  • Working within EYFS frameworks using play-based and child-centred approaches
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging EYFS provision
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans
  • Promoting a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment

We Are Looking For

The successful SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have previous experience in EYFS / Nursery settings
  • Have a strong understanding of SEMH and behavioural needs in young children
  • Be calm, patient, and resilient, with a nurturing approach
  • Be confident supporting children who may display dysregulated behaviour
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with staff and families
