We are a nurturing and inclusive primary school seeking a dedicated SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant who is committed to supporting children in EYFS / Nursery with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges. As a school, we place relationships, consistency, and emotional regulation at the heart of everything we do.

The Role

As a SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Support learning through play-based and structured EYFS activities
  • Help children to develop emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviours
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCo, and pastoral staff
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised plans
  • Create a calm, safe, and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a SEMH EYFS Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has proven experience working in EYFS / Nursery settings
  • Has experience supporting children with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Is patient, resilient, and emotionally attuned to young children
  • Understands the importance of routine, boundaries, and attachment-aware practice
  • Can work effectively as part of a supportive Early Years team
