Abacus Primary in Camden is looking for a calm, caring, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a lovely Year 4 pupil with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional cognition challenges.

This role is mornings only—perfect for someone who wants to make an impact while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

About the role

You’ll be supporting a Year 4 girl whose SEMH needs. Consistency, patience, and nurture are key in helping the pupil to engage with learning and build positive connections at school.

Your day will involve:

  • Providing calm, structured one-to-one support each morning.
  • Helping them regulate emotions, develop confidence, and re-engage with learning tasks.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to plan supportive strategies.
  • Encouraging small steps of progress and celebrating those wins along the way.

About you

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs (school or community setting).
  • Empathy, emotional resilience, and a natural ability to build trust.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to helping children thrive, no matter the challenge.
