About the Role

As a Maths Teacher, you'll be joining a supportive and collaborative department committed to delivering outstanding mathematical education. You'll have the opportunity to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5, inspiring students to develop confidence and excellence in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching Excellence:

  • Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (potentially KS5)
  • Create innovative teaching materials and resources to enhance student learning
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles
  • Prepare students for GCSE Mathematics (and A-Level if applicable)

Student Development:

  • Track and monitor student progress through regular assessment
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their mathematical understanding
  • Support students with varying abilities, from those needing additional help to high achievers
  • Lead intervention sessions and revision classes as needed

Department Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Mathematics department to share best practices
  • Contribute to curriculum development and scheme of work planning
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development sessions
  • Support school-wide mathematics initiatives and cross-curricular projects

Pastoral Care:

  • Act as a form tutor if required, providing guidance and support to assigned students
  • Contribute to the school's pastoral care system
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress

Essential Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mathematics or related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)  
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English Language

Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for Mathematics
  • Experience with GCSE Mathematics specifications
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Strong ICT skills and ability to use educational technology effectively

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience teaching A-Level Mathematics
  • Knowledge of current GCSE and A-Level specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
  • Experience with data analysis and using assessment data to drive improvement
  • Additional qualifications in related subjects (Further Mathematics, Statistics, Physics)
  • Experience mentoring trainee teachers or NQTs
  • Involvement in extra-curricular activities
