Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Barnet

Location: Barnet, London
Hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm, Monday-Friday
Contract: Long-term, starting November 2025 until April or July 2026

About the Role – Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a SEND provision within a primary school, supporting a small class of up to 8 pupils who are not yet ready to access mainstream classroom provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate with a passion for supporting children with SEND to gain hands-on experience in a specialist classroom setting. You will play a key role in helping children engage with learning, develop confidence, and reach their potential, while working within a supportive and inclusive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the Orchard classroom with learning, behaviour, and social development.
  • Assist with implementing individual learning plans and adapt activities to meet pupils’ needs.
  • Use effective strategies to support behaviour management and promote positive interactions.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to create a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in all pupils.

Person Specification

  • Graduate in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Genuine interest in working with children with SEND and supporting their learning and development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop practical skills in SEND support and classroom management.
