Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School - Barnet

Location: Barnet, London
Hours: 8:15am – 4:15pm, Monday-Friday
Contract: Long-term, starting from November 2025 until either April or July 2026

About the Role - Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant (Level 3) to join a SEND provision within a Primary School, supporting a small class of up to 8 pupils who are not yet ready to access mainstream classroom provision.

You will play a vital role in helping children with SEND engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve their potential. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of pupils in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities - Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Support pupils in the Orchard classroom with their learning, behaviour, and social development.
  • Use effective de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Implement individual learning plans and adapt activities to meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to provide a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and positive interactions among pupils.

Person Specification - Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in education, SEND, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, ideally in a classroom or small group setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting all pupils to succeed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
