Lecturer – Travel and Tourism

Our Travel and Tourism section at Uxbridge Campus offers a range of travel-related courses to our learners, with a focus on the airline/aviation and hospitality industries. Working with local employers at and around Heathrow airport, we successfully prepare learners for careers in the sector and/or higher education.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and successful team on a full time basis, to teach on a range of Travel and Tourism courses to our students, predominantly 16-19 year olds, from Level 1 to Level 5.
You will need to possess a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area (a degree is highly desirable) and have experience of working in the travel industry, together with some teaching or training experience. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to engage and motivate young vocational learners aged 16-19. We will support you to develop your career in teaching, including fully funding the Level 5 teaching qualification which is undertaken at the College.
· Teach on a range of programmes in the relevant subject area, which could include:
- NCFE Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to the Travel and Tourism Industry
- NCFE Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma’s in Travel and Tourism
- BTEC HNC/D in International Travel and Tourism Management
- NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Cabin Crew
- NCFE Certificate in Exploring Aviation Environment
· Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
· To ensure that students attend and achieve on all areas of their study programmes including maths and English and work experience.
· Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
· Assess students’ progress regularly including the timely marking of work and giving feedback, both written and verbal.
· Work towards the integration of students’ basic skills development in the delivery of teaching and learning.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of Level 3 in a relevant subject area (degree highly desirable)
· Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET or equivalent**) or willingness and ability to work towards this, supported by the College
· Maths and English at GCSE Grade C / 4 or equivalent or willing to achieve this
· Clean driving licence and willingness and ability to undertake minibus driving training
Knowledge and Experience:
· Some teaching or training experience
· Experience of working within the travel and tourism industry
· Up to date knowledge of the relevant subject area
Other skills:
· The ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16-19
· Valid passport and willingness and ability to participate in UK and overseas student trips
· Good communication skills, written and verbal
· Good interpersonal skills
· Good classroom practice
· Good IT skills
· Ability to integrate Maths, English and ICT within the curriculum
