Hair & Beauty Technician – Further Education College (Cambridge) – Temporary Contract
Location: Cambridge
Pay Rate: £12.50 per hour
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30am–5:00pm | Friday 8:30am–4:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Temporary contract

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Hair & Beauty Technician to join the Hair, Beauty & Media Make-up Department at a leading Further Education college in Cambridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with salon or technical experience who enjoys supporting both staff and students in a creative and hands-on learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support teaching staff and learners in the Hair, Beauty & Media Make-up Department.
• Maintain salon hygiene and presentation, ensuring all areas are clean and ready for classes.
• Prepare products, tools, and equipment for practical sessions and demonstrations.
• Assist lecturers and students during sessions and client appointments.
• Support commercial salon operations, including answering phones, booking appointments, welcoming clients, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR.
• Manage laundry, stock control, and ordering procedures using internal systems.
• Maintain COSHH records, safety data sheets, and salon documentation.
• Liaise with suppliers, place orders, and resolve invoice queries.
• Occasionally cover lessons and assess students when required.

Requirements:

• Available for an immediate start.
• Hold a current Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Previous experience in a Hair, Beauty, or Make-up environment preferred.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively both independently and within a team.
