Highly Experienced SEN Mainstream Teaching Assistant
A wonderful Primary School in Havering is looking for a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. The applicant needs to have experience of working with high needs children with Autism.
About the Role:
In this Primary School, you'll work with students in EYFS or KS1 who face a SEN and behavioural needs. Your role will be to support their learning, behaviour, and emotional regulation-helping them re-engage with education in a safe and structured environment.
You Will:
· Provide 1:1 and small group support, both in and out of class
· Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
· Help implement behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies
· Assist with daily routines and transitions to promote consistency and security
· Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
· Encourage emotional resilience, self-esteem, and positive social skills
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking compassionate and proactive individuals who can remain calm under pressure and are committed to helping students succeed-both academically and emotionally.
You'll Need:
· A genuine passion for working with young people with SEMH needs
· Relevant experience working in Schools, with SEMH or SEN
· Patience, emotional intelligence, and strong behaviour management skills
· The ability to de-escalate situations and offer positive reinforcement
· Experience working with vulnerable young people (formal or informal) is a plus
· A background in supporting children with high SEN needs and behaviour
· Have an enhanced DBS registered with the update service or be happy to purchase one
