Part-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant – Year 4 (Camden)

Clarus Education is supporting a primary school in Camden in their search for a caring and experienced part-time Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a Year 4 pupil with SEMH needs as their primary area of support, alongside additional cognitive challenges. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey.

The Role

You will work one-to-one with a Year 4 pupil whose SEMH needs arise from early childhood trauma. The role involves:

  • Providing consistent, supportive, and structured guidance to help the child access learning
  • Implementing strategies to support social, emotional, and mental health development
  • Maintaining clear boundaries while fostering trust, warmth, and positive engagement
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff to monitor progress and adapt support as needed

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs or similar complex needs
  • Is mature, professional, and confident in setting boundaries
  • Displays a natural warmth and genuine interest in the child’s wellbeing and development
  • Can respond calmly and thoughtfully to challenging behaviours
  • Is flexible and ideally suited to a part-time role, such as someone studying or balancing another part-time position

Additional Information

  • This role is part-time, with hours to be agreed around school schedule and candidate availability
  • There is no formal diagnosis for the child, though ADHD and/or autism are suspected
  • Enhanced DBS clearance will be required
  • This position is based in Camden, and candidates must have the right to work in the UK
