SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Hackney, East London
A warm and inclusive primary school in Hackney is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This role will provide support for pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 who have additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to help children access learning in the classroom, as well as through targeted 1-to-1 and small group interventions. Your support will help pupils build confidence, develop independence, and make measurable progress academically and socially. The role is varied, offering the opportunity to support children at different stages of primary education, from helping Reception children with early communication and literacy skills, to assisting KS2 pupils in preparing for transition and achieving their potential.
Key responsibilities include:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with SEN in a primary setting and be confident in adapting approaches to meet individual learning styles. You will need to be patient, resilient, and proactive, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to inclusion. You will have a strong academic background including GCSEs, A Levels/Diploma, and ideally a relevant degree.
