Clarus Education is excited to recruit a strong, experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal child aged 3-4 years in a nurturing Camden Nursery setting. This role offers the opportunity to provide dedicated, personalised support crucial in the early years of development and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 support tailored to the unique needs of a non-verbal toddler with SEN
• Use specialist communication techniques such as PECs, Makaton, or other relevant methods to aid understanding and expression
• Assist the child in engaging with activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Implement behaviour strategies with patience, consistency, and a warm, calm approach
• Work closely with nursery staff, therapists, and parents to monitor progress and adapt support as needed
• Provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment conducive to early learning and development

Candidate Requirements

• Significant experience supporting young children with complex SEN, preferably non-verbal children or those with communication difficulties
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations
• Knowledge of early years SEN practice and relevant communication methods
• Effective teamwork and communication skills with multidisciplinary staff and families
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support highly desirable
• Enhanced DBS clearance (can be supported if required)
