Person Specification: Secondary Science Teacher / ECT Science Teacher

  • Science ECTs or experienced teachers welcome
  • MUST have UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Good or outstanding lesson observations
  • Ability to teach KS3–KS5 in at least one science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  • Strong academic background – Science degree (1st or 2:1 preferred)
  • Reflective, confident, and engaging individual
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, and parents

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons that foster curiosity, critical thinking, and practical skills
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and experimentation
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners
  • Promote scientific enquiry through practical investigations, demonstrations, and experiments
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing support and interventions as needed
  • Participate in department meetings, school events, and ongoing professional development
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents to support student achievement
