School Administrator – Primary School – Camden – ASAP start!

Location: Camden, London
Salary: Scale 5 (Points 12-15) £32,985 - £34,532 (pro rata, term time only) (£28-29k per annum – actual / £15-17 per hour)
Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only (7:30am – 4:30pm – non-negotiable hours)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

At Clarus Education, we are supporting the recruitment of a Primary School who is seeking a highly organised and proactive School Administration Officer to join their dedicated team.

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of our school’s administrative systems and processes across both EYFS/KS1 and KS2 sites.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for education and a commitment to supporting a school community. You will be the backbone of our office operations, providing essential support to staff, pupils, and parents.

Key Responsibilities - School Administrator

  • Admissions & Transitions: Manage all administrative tasks related to pupil admissions and transitions.
  • Attendance: Work closely with the Inclusion Leaders and Attendance Officer to monitor, record, and report on pupil and staff attendance, ensuring compliance with school policies.
  • Data Management: Maintain and update staff and pupil databases, complete statutory returns (DfE census, local authority reports), and manage data uploads/downloads.
  • Finance: Collect and record payments for school dinners, clubs, and trips; manage outstanding balances in line with school procedures.
  • Procurement & Stock: Assist with ordering and maintaining school stock and uniforms, check deliveries, and ensure correct distribution.
  • General Administration: Provide a wide range of administrative support including diary management, school trip coordination, website updates, hospitality arrangements, and first point of contact duties for visitors.
  • IT & Security: Support the implementation of IT security procedures and ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Safeguarding: Uphold and promote the welfare of pupils and fundamental British Values at all times.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience: School Administrator

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in a school office environment
  • Experience managing databases and attendance
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality front-line service to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong team player with experience working within statutory compliance frameworks
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively

Desirable: School Administrator

  • Experience with school dinner money systems
  • Experience managing school admissions

Skills & Qualifications: School Administrator

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident using a range of IT packages (e.g. MS Office, school management systems)
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, and present data clearly
  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths (or equivalent)
