We are seeking inspirational Head of SEN/ Learning Support.

We are a growing and successful organization consisting of three renowned partner Schools. Due to oversubscription, there are plans to open two new Academies in Doha in the near future.

Main Overall Functions

  • To lead and manage the Learning Support Department of the Academy.
  • To play a key role within the school to ensure all pupils with special and additional needs, including Gifted and Talented students and English as an Additional Language (EAL) students make accelerated progress in their learning and achieve to the very best of their ability
  • To lead on the implementation of the Learning Support strategy of the Academy.
  • To strategically lead the Learning Support Service to ensure that it achieves its strategic aims for children, young people and families with additional education needs to ensure improving outcomes for all children and young people in the Academy.
  • To discharge responsibilities that are required under the Learning Support Policy and relevant legislation.
  • Effectively manage and deploy staff and resources to meet changing student needs
  • To assist in the promotion, direction and oversight of high standards of teaching and learning, student achievement and progression through effective inclusion for students with special educational needs.
  • Be consistent in the delivery of all the School policies and practices
  • Liaise closely and work with the Year Coordinators and Subject Leaders so as to ensure a co-ordinated and holistic approach to students’ individual needs
  • Managing, developing and maintaining high-quality Learning Support provision. Develop and enhance the teaching practice of staff in the Learning Support Department

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A DfE-recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent) from a UK university.
  • Substantial experience teaching SEN in a British curriculum setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, either as Head of Department or in a similar role.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for holistic education and co-curricular development.
