Position: Qualified Music Teacher (Nursery to Year 6) – Not suitable for ECTs

This excellent opportunity calls for an accomplished education professional with proven teaching expertise to lead their music provision across the primary phase.

As Qualified Music Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding music education across the primary age range (Nursery to Year 6). You will take ownership of the music curriculum, developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance musical education throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities – Qualified Music Teacher

  • Design and deliver high-quality music education to pupils from Nursery to Year 6
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive music curriculum
  • Orchestrate musical performances, concerts and assemblies throughout the academic year
  • Establish and coordinate engaging lunchtime and after-school music clubs
  • Assess, monitor and track pupil progress in music
  • Manage musical resources, instruments and equipment
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music across the curriculum
  • Represent the school at music-related events and network with external music specialists
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement planning for the arts

The Ideal Candidate: - Qualified Music Teacher

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with music specialisation
  • Successful teaching experience in a primary setting
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality music education
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Deep understanding of music pedagogy and children's musical development

Desirable:

  • Additional music qualifications or specialist training
  • Experience leading a subject area or department
  • Proficiency across multiple instruments
  • Experience directing children's choirs or orchestras
  • Knowledge of music technology and digital composition tools
